Easter Tea
Join us for our Easter tea, with fellowship and the story of Christ's sacrifice for us. Why not take a couple of hours out from DIY to contemplate the real meaning of Easter.
The men's breakfast which was held on Saturday 17 January was, as usual, a very successful event. Twenty-one men sat down to a "Full Welsh Breakfast" provided by the untiring ladies from the Church.
The speaker was Mr Roger Cookes from Gateway Church, Caerphilly who chose the topic of male role models from the Old Testament such as Moses and Abraham. His main theme was to illustrate the ways in which these men had dealt with various trials that God had put before them.
Sometimes, they had tried to find the solution without the help of God, but whenever this happened, the problem was not solved efficiently. Roger emphasised that only by listening to and obeying God did they find a final and satisfactory solution to their difficulties.
This is obviously the only solution founded in God's will.
The message for the men gathered together was to emulate these great men when they showed their obedience and honour to God.
One of the guests comments that the atmosphere was very friendly and that all of the men were anxious to talk about what they had experienced since the previous breakfast. Many admitted that they had prayed about problems that they had experienced and felt more confident for having done so.
Such was the spirit of community and comradeship (i.e. a lot of talking!) that a passerby could have mistaken this gathering for one of the always very valuable Ladies' Fellowship meetings! one gentleman even expressed the view that he would like to sing some choruses at the breakfasts.
All were very grateful to the ladies who had prepared and served the food especially when the guests were offered extra portions of sausages and bacon and, of course, numerous amounts of tea!
