Easter Tea
Join us for our Easter tea, with fellowship and the story of Christ's sacrifice for us. Why not take a couple of hours out from DIY to contemplate the real meaning of Easter.
The visit by the Soma Choir left the congregation and their guests of Bethel Church feeling uplifted by the beautiful music and words sung by the choir and also feeling challenged by the theme, that was common to each of the speakers from the choir, regarding God’s purpose for each of us.
The 40 strong choir, which was made up of Christian men and women from various local churches in the Gwent area, was led by their conductor Mr Geraint Stephens. The male members of the choir were dressed in black shirts and trousers and gold coloured ties, while the women wore black trousers with a mixture of maroon, blue and deep green sequined tops.
Interspersed with each section, was a selection of songs and short messages/testimonies. Some were emotional responses to the themes in Rick Warren’s book "The Purpose Driven Life". All of them reinforced the theme that we were planned for God’s purpose.
The speakers each addressed a separate chapter from the book. One person spoke very movingly about having recently lost their job and although they are now facing an uncertain financial future is putting their trust in God for what lies ahead. Another spoke of how God smiles when we please Him through prayer, teaching His Word, offerings and sharing His Gospel.
As the choir sang, joy filled the air and an awareness of tranquillity ascended on the audience. The faces of the choir members displayed elation and conveyed to the listeners the uplifting joy of the harmony through music and words.
Pastor’s enjoyment of the evening was evident in his thanks to the choir commenting that "we had all had a taste of heaven" during the performance and for us all to know the peace of God.
The last comment of this wonderful evening must be left to Geraint when he said;
"It is always encouraging when we are invited to Bethel Bedwas. We feel that there is a spirit that enables both performer and listener to worship in a very special way".
Afterwards, we all gathered in the hall at the back for a wonderful buffet which had been prepared by some of the ladies from Bethel. Thank you to everyone who made it such an enjoyable evening.
We look forward to their next visit.
