The Secret Children
30 million children. Orphaned. Separated. Rejected. Persecuted for their faith. They need our help to raise awareness and encourage prayerful support for the hidden victims of the persecuted church. Please come.
Candlelight Service
Join us for a special candlelight service to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. In the busy run up to the festivities with all it's stresses and worries, take a couple of hours out to contemplate the real meaning of Christmas.
What is Christian Mission?
"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28: 18-20
Authority - The mission is God's, not ours - but it is God that gives
us the power to accomplish the mission.
Go - We often ask people to "come" and join us, but Jesus says Go! We need to get out of our churches and move out to people.
Teach - Teaching is critical, Jesus spent a lot of time teaching, and we should do the same, and in order to teach we must first learn.
Make disciples - Making disciples is what we are all about.
Observe Jesus' commandments - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and, love your neighbour as yourself.
Christ is with us always - This is the greatest news of all! Go out and spread the good news!
Our Missions
Bethel Baptist Church supports many missions, both
here
in the UK, and
around the world.
We keep in regular contact with the missions that we support, by email, post, telephone and of course, by face-to-face contact.
Representatives from both sides try and meet at least once a year, sometimes the mission will come to the church and present their work and progress to the church. It is always good to see the help we giving helping work to come to fruition.
In November 2008, we sent a team out to India to visit two of the missions we support there. The team were out there for 10 days and found it very inspirational. You can read more about it here.
